The constitutional documents of the province include:

1. Acts of the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1857 and 1858 and Acts of the Parliament of Canada in 1870 and 1871 authorizing the creation of the Provincial Synod and its extension to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick;
2. Revised Letters Patent issued to the first Metropolitan Bishop on February 12, 1862;
3. The Declaration of Principles adopted in 1861;
4. The Statement of Purpose;
5. The Constitution;
6. The Rules of Order; and
7. The Canons:
   • Canon I - The Ecclesiastical Province of Canada and its Dioceses
   • Canon II - The Election, Office and Work of the Metropolitan Bishop
     • Rules of Procedure for an Electoral College Convened by Telecommunications (repealed by Provincial Council 2002, but retained on this site for information purposes)
   • Canon III - The Election, Appointment, Consecration and Resignation of Bishops
   • Canon IV - The Licensing of Clergy
   • Canon V - Discipline and the Court of Appeal
   • Canon VI - Canons of the General Synod
